How to give Kudos Points with an emoji reaction

React to a teammate’s message with your Kudos Emoji to send a point — including on birthday and work anniversary posts, and on messages from other apps.

You don't have to write a message to recognize someone. If a teammate already said the nice thing, just react to their message with your Kudos Emoji and Asante Bot turns that reaction into a real Kudos Point.

It's the fastest way to pile on when someone else has already called out good work.

How reaction Kudos work

Hover any message in a channel Asante Bot has been invited to, add your Kudos Emoji as a reaction, and that's it.

If the message mentions people, each person mentioned gets one point.
If the message doesn't mention anyone, the point goes to the person who wrote it.

A reaction is always worth one point per person — no matter how many emoji are in the message itself. That's different from sending kudos in a message, where @teammate great work 🏆🏆 is worth two points. Reactions are one each, every time.

Example:

Ana posts: "Huge thanks to @marko and @jelena for covering the on-call weekend."

You react with 🏆 → Marko gets one point and Jelena gets one point.

Only your Kudos Emoji counts

Asante Bot watches for the one emoji configured for your workspace. Every other reaction is just a normal Slack reaction and is ignored.

Reactions use your daily limit

Reaction Kudos come out of the same daily allowance as kudos you send in a message. Reacting to a message that mentions three teammates spends three of your daily points, because three people are being recognized.

Changed your mind? Remove the reaction

Remove your reaction and the points go with it. The recipients' totals drop back down, and the kudos disappear from the record.

Only your reaction is undone — if three other people reacted to the same message, their points stay.

What you can't do

Asante Bot keeps recognition honest, so a couple of things are blocked:

You can't react to your own message. Writing "great work" and then reacting to it doesn't give anyone anything.
You can't give yourself a point. If you're one of the people mentioned in the message, you're skipped.

In both cases Asante Bot replies with a private note in the channel that only you can see.

React to birthday and work anniversary posts

When Asante Bot announces a birthday or a work anniversary, teammates can react to that post with the Kudos Emoji to send the person being celebrated a point. It's a natural way to turn a celebration thread into real recognition.

React to messages from other apps

The same thing works for messages posted by other tools in your workspace. If your HR system, deploy bot, or workflow tool posts a message that mentions a teammate, anyone can react with the Kudos Emoji to recognize them.

This also needs Allow Kudos From Bots switched on.

Final thoughts

Reactions lower the effort of recognition to a single click. Not every thank-you needs its own message — sometimes the best thing you can do is add your voice to one that's already there.
