How to let other apps give Kudos Points

Turn on Allow Kudos From Bots so integrations like your HR, CI, or workflow tools can recognize teammates automatically.

Some of the best moments to recognize someone are already happening in your other tools — a milestone in your HR system, a release shipped, a request closed out. Allow Kudos From Bots lets those tools hand out Kudos Points on their own, without anyone having to remember to post about it.

It's off by default. An admin turns it on once, and any app already posting in your channels can start recognizing people.

Turning it on

Head over to the Asante Bot General Settings page and switch on Allow Kudos From Bots.

Only workspace owners can change this setting, and it applies to your whole workspace.

How another app gives Kudos Points

There's no special API to call and nothing to build. A bot gives kudos exactly the way a person does — by posting a normal message in a channel Asante Bot has been invited to, containing:

Your Kudos Emoji
An @mention of whoever is being recognized

Example:

Your deploy bot posts: "🚀 v2.4 is live — shipped by @marko 🏆"

Marko gets one Kudos Point, credited to the deploy bot.

That means anything that can post to Slack can give kudos: Zapier, Make, your CI pipeline, your HRIS, or a script your team wrote. If it can post a message, it can recognize someone.

How many points a bot gives

The counting rules are the same as for people. Each instance of the Kudos Emoji is worth a point, for each person mentioned — so a message with two emoji mentioning two people gives two points each. See How do you give Kudos to multiple persons? for how that works.

Bots don't have a daily limit

The daily Kudos limit is a personal budget — it exists so recognition between teammates stays meaningful. A bot isn't a teammate and doesn't have one.

Instead, there's a safety net: a single bot message can recognize at most 20 people. A misconfigured integration that mentions an entire channel can't flood your workspace with points.

Where bot Kudos show up

Kudos from an app are real kudos and count everywhere kudos count:

The recipient's total goes up, same as any other recognition
It appears in your activity feed and analytics, with the app named as the sender
The recipient gets the usual Slack notification from Asante Bot

What bots don't do is take up space meant for people. An app that gives kudos never shows up on your leaderboard, in your team member list, or on your bill.

Teammates can add their own

A bot's message is just a message, so anyone can react to it with the Kudos Emoji to add a point of their own. An automated shout-out becomes a place for the team to pile on.

Turning it off

Switch Allow Kudos From Bots back off and apps stop giving kudos immediately. Points already given are kept — nothing is removed from anyone's total or from your analytics.

Final thoughts

Recognition works best when it's close to the moment. Letting your other tools give kudos means the good work gets noticed when it happens, not whenever someone next remembers to post about it.
